Our motto at the 1st Friday Nite Gospel Sing is "Promote Christ Through Our Singing, Not Ourselves". Being in a singing group all my life I have always felt the local singing groups, sometimes called "weekend warriors", work harder in their ministry than the majority of professional singing groups. You see, the "weekend warriors" work aregular job during the week and then do their singing on the weekends. I feel there is a real need for these "weekend warriors" to carry the gospel in song. These "weekend warriors" will go to small churches and schools in rural areas and sing where people would not otherwise be able to hear the gospel through song. The Lord always blesses and meets the needs of sincerely called "weekend warriors", those with a real desire and calling to spread the gospel.

The purpose of the 1st Friday Nite Gospel Sing is to promote local talent singing southern gospel music in the surrounding areas of Mississippi and Alabama - glorifying Christ through song. |
The name The McAdams has been in existence since the year 1929 when in Millport, Alabama the parents of the present group organized the first quartet and started singing gospel music. Over the years, the name has made many friends, both far and near, for whom they are deeply grateful. The McAdams have developed a unique style of their own, which in turn has made them very popular in the area of gospel music. They have recently completed their thirteen recording, one released nationally. Some of the highlights of their singing career include guest appearances at the Grand Ole Gospel Opry in Nashville, Singing in the Mountains in Bryson City, NC, River Boat Cruises in Columbus, MS and the Rural Letter Carriers National Convention in Tulsa, OK. For instance, The McAdams Quartet, which started in 1929 has been richly blessed throughout the years. The Lord always provided a place to sing and the means to get there. In view of that fact, I wanted a place that I could take this type of talent - these "weekend warriors" - and showcase it to the public and in the process further the promotion of the gospel through song. And true to my above statement the Lord always provides a way. A man by the name of Mr. Ed Kuykendall who owns the historic Princess Theater walked into my life, guided by the hand of God, and made my dreams become a reality. On the first Friday night in February 1999 we had our first "1st Friday Nite Gospel Sing". We were off and running and my dreams were becoming a reality. A friend of mine, Mr. Ronnie Page, who has worked with Wally Fowler and the all night gospel sing in Nashville with the Oak Ridge Quartet agreed to be our emcee. Along with Ronnie, there have been several people instrumental in the success of the 1st Friday Nite Gospel Sing. Along with Mr. Ed Kuykendall, there are Ms. Frances and Steve Kuykendall of the Princess Theater, Radio Expert Doug Moulds, our sound engineer Steve McAdams and Sue McAdams who handles ticket sales. Last but Certainly not least, the audiences and supporters of the 1st Friday Nite Gospel Sing who each month, give us ears to hear the message we are presenting in song. Most of all, I would like to thank the Lord for allowing me to realize my dream. It's so true that if we delight ourselves in Him, He will Give us the desires our our heart. May our desire always be "Promote Christ Through Our Singing, Not Ourselves". |

Well, it has been a while since you have heard from me but I am still kicking, not as high as one time but still kicking. I want to bring you up to date on the 1st Friday Nite sing at the Civic Center in Fayette, AL. It is with some sadness that I tell you that last friday night brought to a close the sing. After nine performances, it was evident that we were not getting the support that we had to have to continue. On behalf of The McAdams, Pam and David Baker and myself, I want to thank the ones that were faithful in helping us to try to make it work but there simply was not enough to do it. You can usually tell by the way people support a program if they really want it and we just didn't have that support. Should there be any change in the future we will let you know.
May God Bless You
